GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING MARIACHI DIVAS DE CINDY SHEA

Directed and founded by trumpet player Cindy Shea in 1999, under the musical direction of GRAMMY award winning Alberto “Beto” Jimenez Maeda, the Mariachi Divas have made big waves on the national and international music scene. A two-time GRAMMY Award winner, with five GRAMMY nominations and one Latin GRAMMY nomination, the Mariachi Divas are a unique, multicultural, all-female ensemble imbued with the true flavor of Los Angeles. All together, the Divas discography includes 9 albums released through Shea Records and East Side Records.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea.

Their second GRAMMY Award was received in 2014 for their 9th album, A Mi Manera. Their first GRAMMY Award in 2009, for Canciones De Amor, marked the first time in the history of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences that an all-female mariachi group had been a nominee and a winner. Other GRAMMY nominations include:

  • 2013 – Oye, nominated for Best Regional Mexican Album of the Year (including Tejano), GRAMMY Awards
  • 2012 – “Ay Mi Mexico” in the Oye Album, nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song of the Year, Latin GRAMMY Awards
  • 2012 – Orale, nominated for Best Regional Mexican Album of the Year, GRAMMY Awards
  • 2010 – 10 Aniversario, nominated for Best Regional Mexican Album of the Year, GRAMMY Awards

In addition to their musical career, the Divas have appeared in independent films including Dead Man’s Shoe, Ren and La Dentista, in which music from their album was used in the movie’s soundtrack. The Divas’ rendition of the Ricky Martin hit, “La Bomba” was used in a film released in 2008 called Julia. Additionally, their music is included in the 2012 movie release of Mariachi Gringo and two of their Christmas songs are featured on Hallmark cards.Since 2003, the Mariachi Divas perform at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, delighting audiences of all ages on a weekly basis.
